Virtual Action Institute

September 16, 2020 - September 17, 2020

All Times Eastern

The Brain Health Action Institute for Tribal Nations is designed to support Tribes and Tribal organizations in using the Healthy Brain Initiative Road Map for Indian Country to start conversations, as well as develop and plan strategies for improving brain health in their own communities. The Road Map for Indian Country is the first-ever public health guide focused on dementia in American Indian/Alaska Native (AI/AN) communities.

Recommended Action Institute participants include individuals who are already or aspire to be champions of brain health within their communities. This includes, but is not limited to Tribal leaders, health directors, clinicians, Tribal program staff and motivated community members.

By the end of the Action Institute, participants can expect to:

  • Clearly understand the impact of dementia on a community;
  • Understand the possible risk factors for dementia
  • Share and learn from other Tribes and subject matter experts;
  • Assess their existing Tribal community efforts for ADRD;
  • Prioritize Road Map for Indian Country actions that would have the greatest impact and feasibility in their community;
  • Use this opportunity to integrate actions for including dementia, including Alzheimer’s disease, as well as caregivers of those with dementia in existing Tribal-wide plans and activities.
  • Have access to personalized technical assistance during the meeting
  • Feel a commitment to and excitement for moving forward with actions that can be taken in their communities.

This Action Institute will be held virtually, given current COVID-19 restrictions, September 16 and 17, 2020 from about 12:00-4:00pm each day.
